Registration of tr-Domains

The .tr domains are the domains of Turkey. It is now possible to register directly under .tr. You can also register your name under official subdomains like gen.tr and .com.tr.

In the Turkish market, domain names with the extension .com.tr or soon .tr are of great importance. Search engines like Google.com.tr prefer websites with .tr domains, making them essential for companies that export to or are based in Turkey.

Currently, holders of third-level Turkish domains such as .com.tr or .info.tr have the opportunity to secure a short .tr domain until August 8.

Procedure:

  • The domain owner contacts their provider or registrar and requests the activation code.
  • The activation code is sent to secura@domainregistry.de.
  • ICANN registrar Secura then applies for the same domain name under .tr.

    From August 8, 2024, no additional documents are required to register .tr domains. The previous process, which required applications with evidence such as trademark registrations, has been changed. Now, .tr domains are allocated on a "first come, first served" basis without the need to submit documents. This change applies to most official subdomains such as .com.tr, .net.tr, and .org.tr.

    However, there are exceptions for specific domain extensions related to public services (e.g., .gov.tr, .edu.tr, .pol.tr), which still require documents to be submitted.

    Any.tr domain can also be registered with Turkish special characters (S, s, Ç, ç, I, i, Â, â, Ü, ü).

    Each .tr domain costs 99 EURO per year.
